Subliminal influences

Unknown Unknowns

"... as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know." - Donald H. Rumsfeld ( US Secretary of Defense) February 12, 2002

How are you affected by something you can't see or can barely perceive? After a period of brainstorming and a dramaturgy workshop, Susanne Bentley now reformulates the direction of the Bent Object's "Below 20" research. Distilled research elements include:
- Relationship between the performance (including performer) and spectator
- Presence of performer/environment
- Infrasound - biological effects, subliminal influence
- Suggestion rather than statement
- Domination of the individual by an environment, placed within a period in history in which Western man believes in an increase in control.
New elements to be added include storytelling, visiting hours and possibly some known knowns.

Newt Gingrich's GOPAC Memo 1990

'Optimistic governing words' and 'Contrasting words'

"This list is prepared so that you might have a directory of words to use in writing literature and mail, in preparing speeches, and in producing electronic media. The words and phrases are powerful. Read them. Memorize as many as possible. And remember that like any tool, these words will not help if they are not used".

100 Banned Words

National Plain English Day was 11 December 2007. To mark the occasion, the UK Local Government Association (LGA) published a list of 100 words that public bodies should not use if they want to communicate effectively.

A UK version of Newt Gingrich's 1996 GOPAC memo 'contrasting words'...ok, some I do understand but since when has 'welcome' or 'customer' been a bad word?

The Netherlands is respectful. Russia is corrupt.

In his work 'The Netherlands is respectful. Russia is corrupt' Igor Stromajer is in search for current verdicts about the different countries from East and West Europe...According to Stromajer: 'Politics is the poetry of today'.

Look in the Archive for Issue 4 to find this work.

Weird interface, but you have to click on 'Short' or 'Read More' to actually get a screen where you can find the archive.
